When it comes to writing, one of the words we need the most is adjectives, especially those that describe human emotions.


Not just for writing, but also for tracking your own and others' emotional states, here is a categorized list of emotions:


HAPPY

Playful: excited, daring

Content: free, cheerful

Engaged: curious, inquisitive

Proud: successful, confident

Accepted: respected, valued

Empowered: brave, creative

Serene: affectionate, grateful

Confident: sensitive, genuine

Optimistic: hopeful, inspired


SURPRISED

Startled: shocked, frightened

Confused: realized the truth, mind-boggled

Amazed: astonished, in awe

Excited: eager, energetic


SAD

Bored: indifferent, insensitive

Busy: under pressure, rushed

Stressed: overwhelmed, out of control

Tired: sleepy, unfocused


FEARFUL

Afraid: desperate, frightened

Anxious: lost, worried

Insecure: inadequate, feeling inferior

ANGRY
